Tasting Note | eRobert Parker / WA : 88-90 /100 Neal Martin The 2013 Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru les Vergelesses has a light blackcurrant and bilberry-scented bouquet with satisfying vigor, if not the complexity of the 2012. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannins, dark berry fruit and a slightly hard finish that needs 8-12 months to soften. This feels denuded of its usual elegance, but it still offers pleasure. Burghound (BH) 87/100 Allen Meadows A slightly more deeply pitched nose of red and dark currant aromas is liberally laced with earth and sauvage nuances. The delicious and sleek middle weight flavors possess better complexity though the moderately firm finish is less well-balanced and I would suggest drinking this young for its fruit. Wine Maker Tasting Note : Deep cherry colour. Pleasant bouquet of red and black fruits, as well as flowers (Violet). Silky and suave mouth feel, full of flesh and elegance. Soft tannins flow through the palate right to the end. Drink early in order to take advantage of the fruit, or keep in the cellar a few years. Great match with guinea fowl, other poultries, or white meat. |
